The Build a Healthy Community – Childhood Obesity Prevention Project (BHC-COP) is an awareness campaign designed to promote active lifestyles and healthy eating habits for youth and their families.
Our process thrives on inclusion. Our desire is not to create a solution in a vacuum, but to work in collaboration with the community to determine appropriate and manageable solutions.
Build a Healthy Community Objectives:
- Increase nutrition & health education through targeted outreach and education programs
- Provide healthy eating education workshops that include food preparation and budget shopping activities
- Engage youth and adults in service learning activities around community gardening
- Introduce opportunities for youth and teens to become engaged in the awareness campaign through participating in the development of youth-led messages and activities
