B.O.L.D. which stands for Building Our Limitless Dreams, is a project partnership between Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Florida and War on Poverty-Florida, to offer after-school homework assistance and enrichment activities for students; as well as service coordination, money management education and advocacy training for parents. This highly impactful program is designed to make a difference in the lives of students and their families.
Family Connection Center - Parent Engagement
Reaching and involving all parents and families is important in order to educate all students at high standards. For the past six years the War on Poverty-Florida (WPF) has facilitated and supported our Family Connection Center through our partnership with the New Town Success Zone and Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida Building our Limitless Dreams (BOLD) project in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Family Connection Center is facilitated through our parent organizing support services, offering parent and family resource services designed to engage parents and families in the target schools.
Studies have found that students with involved parents, no matter what their income or background, are more likely to—
• Earn high grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs;
• Pass their classes, earn credits, and be promoted;
• Attend school regularly; and
• Graduate and enroll in post-secondary educational institutions, or matriculate to living wage jobs and careers.
